Having Reid cry renders this scene even more heartbreaking as it already is. The continuing trend of loose ends goes on for Reid. He never gets to say goodbye, does he?

Elle left abruptly after her turning in her resignation, so I'm not really sure if she ever said goodbye to any of them. Gideon just...disappears. All that was left behind is a letter and a mess of confusion - a turmoil which Reid only came to terms with three seasons later. Now, Emily's 'dead'.

He never received the disclosure he needed from these people he had come to care about. They were just...gone suddenly from his life, and he is the one left picking up the pieces.

At least Gideon and Elle are still alive. But he believes that Emily is dead.

It's worthwhile though to hear JJ call him "Spence" again. JJ seemed quite alarmed that Reid got up and tried to leave to see Emily (her stopping him pretty much clued me in that Emily's not quite dead.)

Sad he tries to see Emily even when told she's 'dead', if it is to properly bade farewell to her. That he wants to see her off even if she's already gone.

It is just as disheartening to realise that Emily will never get to say goodbye either to all of them.
